A study from Australia published in the June 2013 Annals of Internal Medicine.  The principle findings are:

  • Among the 600 patients using daily sunscreen a majority showed no detectable increase in skin aging after four and a half years. Some actually showed an improvement in skin texture over the baseline.
  • Daily sunscreen use is much more effective than discretionary use.
  • Even if started in middle age, daily sunscreen use still has an impact.
  • This impact can be seen in as little as four years.
