Kybella, the new injectable treatment to dissolve double chins is both safe and effective for the right patients. Ideal patients should not be very overweight nor should they be elderly with sagging skin.

Here is a simple test you can do at home to determine if Kybella might work for you.

Stand in front of the mirror and simultaneously pull the corners of your mouth down and thrust you chin forward. You should feel the muscles on the front and sides of your neck tense up. Next press the thumb and forefingers of one hand against the front neck muscle like pincers. Now see if you can pinch a pad of fat which will bulge between your thumb and forefinger. That is the pad of fat that Kybella permanently dissolves!

Only a doctor can determine for sure if you’re an ideal candidate for this treatment. So schedule a FREE consultation and let’s find out.

The Skin is the first thing people notice. There are many office treatments to help smooth your skin. As your dermatology providers we can inject the Botox and Juvederm and then, peel, laser or microneedle your skin but, to maintain your glow you need to adhere to a great home skin care regimen as well.
Just as with physical fitness one must exercise and eat right otherwise you relapse to your former self.

Skin health like physical fitness excels when we give it our full attention. Office treatments will definitely make your skin look good but to look great you need to maintain that glow with a great skin care at home.

We would like to make you aware of a promotion we are running for all of February! If you purchase any strength Skin Medica Retinol this month, then you receive a free sunscreen! Retinols are important for maintenance of healthy skin! They are creams that can have a powerful impact on your skin. If you don't know, they are a topical form of vitamin A and when used they help slough off our skin cells more rapidly than normal. Retinols can help reduce brown spots on your skin and make it more even toned. They can minimize fine lines and wrinkles and also stimulate collagen production over time! That's why it's an important step in skin care! It is important to wear sunscreen daily while using a retinol because they make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. That's why we paired a sunscreen with a purchase of a retinol this month!

Did you read The Buffalo News this weekend? There was an article in the Refresh section of the newspaper on Saturday, April 19th, 2014, under Health titled Preserve youthful skin without surgery. The article outlines ways that you can preserve beautiful healthy skin without having any type of surgical procedure. Dr. Kenneth Arndt, a clinical professor of dermatology affiliated with Harvard Medical school, was interviewed.

Interestingly, the first step discussed to youthful skin is wearing sunscreen and using sun protective measures to slow the pace of sun damage. That's something that we always recommend in our office. No matter what you plan to do to improve the appearance of your skin, you should always protect it against further damage. Otherwise, your investment will be for naught.

The most sought after non-surgical treatments that Dr. Arndt discussed are neuromodulators, such as Botox, and dermal fillers, such as Juvederm. Both treatments are minimally invasive and have minimal recovery time. Remember, neuromodulators help to relax fine lines and wrinkles while dermal fillers are injections that help to plump up or soften lines and wrinkles. Both treatments are often done together for maximum results.

Another option for youthful skin without surgery is skin rejuvenation with laser treatments. There are different types of minimally invasive laser treatments available to help treat such problems as brown spots on the skin or uneven skin tone. Some of these lasers include fractional lasers or pulsed light therapy. These lasers also have minimal recovery time and again, are not invasive.

There are other options to obtain and maintain youthful skin without surgery that are also less costly. These treatments include microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Microdermabrasion uses tiny exfoliating crystals to slough off the top layer of skin and reveal fresh glowing skin. Chemical peels use specific chemicals such as glycolic acid to strip away the outer layer of skin an remove damaged skin. These treatment options are relatively inexpensive and are great non-surgical procedures to rejuvanate the skin.

You should always make sure that the person providing treatments for you is a well trained and licensed professional. Dr. Accetta, Susan Peterson, PA and myself are well trained in many non-surgical cosmetic procedures. Our licensed aesthetician, Heidi, would be happy to do a complimentary consultation about skin rejuvenation products and procedures. We provide many of the treatments as discussed in this article from The Buffalo News. If you are interested in obtaining youthful skin without having any type of surgical procedure, we would be happy to discuss any of these treatment options with you right here in our office.
